Bottled emotion

As a child to a young teenager, I didn't express the times that I was really sad or hurt. When I started High School, I composed all of that emotion into this poem.

First Drop of Fear

Thunder rumbling, lightning flashes.
I look up to the sky as a raindrop hits my cheek,
already wet with tears.

A glance,
nothing more and a child's laughter fades away.

Hopes and dreams,
with just a single squeeze,
can cause them to break.

A room with an unfinished painting.
A lost toy.

Feeling tired and alone.
As you wander in a scorching desert,
under a blazing sun.
Miles of dry sand,
accompanied by the sharp breath of a dragon.

An accident,
with death at the door,
It wouldn't have hurt you so much,
were it not for the loved one inside.

A glass figurine teeters and falls.
Shattering into tiny hazardous daggers.

The silence.
The stillness.

I wipe away my tears,
as rain continues to fall.
