The road to love is sometimes long and tiring.
It is unexpected and unpredictable.
Thinking that no one out there could possibly ever love you,
the way a man loves a woman.
The way he looks at her with such love and tenderness.
Every woman dreams of that.
To be adored.
To be cared for.
To have someone there for both good and bad times.
Happy and sad times.
Then when love comes, you have to question it,
because you don't want to be disappointed.
Or let down.
Because you don't want to be hurt again.
But at the same time, you have a spark of hope.
The thought comes.
Is he really the one?
Could this possibly be happening to me?
The road after love has found you isn't easy still.
There are times when you feel like you are climbing, soaring.
Higher and higher you go and you know you're in love,
that nothing can stand in the way.
Just remember life can't always be a fairy tale.
Life with love is also filled with bumps and potholes.
There are times when your journey takes a nosedive and you sink in despair.
Wondering how things have gotten to be like this.
There will be times he will rescue you,
the damsel in distress.
But there are moments when a princess has to rescue her knight in shining armor.
Knowing that even they have some weaknesses,
that they need rescuing too.
After the battle is won,
there will still be bruises and healing to be done.
But the road is slightly a little smoother.
The journey of love just a little wiser.
Makayla, I love this poem! I've watched your journey to love with Jason from the time you went to Lagoon for the first time and got soaked and had a blast, to today. Mike and I enjoyed watching Alyx, your love child, yesterday as you went to Lagoon and to a Masquerade Ball. The topping on the cake was when you fell asleep on the couch after you got home and put Alyx to bed, and Jason came to check on you and told me how beautiful you are. Life is filled with ups and downs, yet I think you are doing a terrific job of tackling challenges with courage and aplomb. We're glad that you bring joy and happiness into Jason's life. Mike and I feel blessed to have you as a daughter-in-law. -Love Diane (your other mom) ;)
